Mark 2 — Friends Lower the Paralytic Through the Roof

Mark 2

Interior low-angle shot inside a crowded first-century Galilean house with a packed dirt floor and whitewashed mud-brick walls, oil lamps smoking on a ledge. Camera is positioned near floor level looking up at a square opening being torn in the reed-and-mud roof, dust and straw falling in shafts of daylight. Four men's hands grip a woven mat and lower it slowly on ropes; a paralyzed man lies on the mat, eyes open, fingers twitching. Camera slowly tilts upward and pushes in through drifting dust motes as the mat descends into the center of the room, the crowd below parting and craning their necks. The mat touches the floor and the camera holds on the man's face as a sandaled figure steps into frame from the left. 16:9, warm lamp light mixed with hard roof light, medium depth of field.
