Mark 5 — The Gerasene Tombs

Mark 5

Eerie wide shot at blue twilight among rock-cut tombs on a hillside above a dark shoreline. Camera is positioned low behind scattered boulders, slowly craning upward and forward to reveal a wild-haired man in tattered rags crouched at a tomb entrance, chains snapped and dangling from his wrists. Broken shackles and scratched stone surround him; cold mist clings to the ground. In the middle distance, a herd of pigs grazes near the cliff edge, silhouetted against the last band of orange sky. The man's head lifts sharply as he notices someone approaching off-frame. Camera continues its slow rise, keeping him small in the lower left as the vast bruised sky dominates, and the shot ends on his trembling outstretched hand.
