Mark 3 — Healing the Withered Hand on the Sabbath

Mark 3

Medium close-up in a synagogue interior of pale stone columns and shadowed alcoves, a man stands rigid with his right hand drawn up and shriveled against his chest, tendons taut. Camera begins tight on the hand at chest height, then arcs slowly left around the man's shoulder to reveal a circle of stern bearded elders in striped prayer shawls watching from the shadows, arms folded. Warm shaft of daylight from a high window cuts across the stone floor. The man slowly extends the hand into the light; fingers straighten and color returns. Camera comes to rest on a two-shot as another robed figure stands beside him, their shoulders nearly touching. 16:9, chiaroscuro lighting, shallow focus on the hand, elders soft in background.
